Knowledge Increases By Sharing. So, Pass it On

Have you ever wondered how much information there is in this whole world. It's unimaginable. The curiosity to know and learn more has evolved mankind to the stage it is today. Still, our combined knowledge may not even be 0.01% of what is to be known of the universe we exist in.

Knowledge is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as (i) expertise, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject, (ii) what is known in a particular field or in total; facts and information or (iii) awareness or familiarity gained by experience of a fact or situation.

What is an invention by me today may be a discovery by you tomorrow and a revelation to someone else day after. But I believe that there is one simple funda that can take the knowledge level of entire mankind to the next level. "Knowledge Increases By Sharing. So, Pass it On"

What this means is simple. Today, I come to know of something new. If I feel that my colleagues, my friends or relatives might not be aware of it, I must pass it on to them. If each one of us does this, every one will be aware of the existence of everything that anyone else knows exists.

There are some who feel that if every one knows everything, then what will experts do. But experts will always be the way they are. Knowing that something exists does not mean that I know it inside out. However, it is much better than not knowing something at all. By sharing, you will never lose anything. Albeit, you will gain respect as a knowledgeable and a caring person.

Take for example a simple thing like a Blood Donating Group's Mobile number where you can SMS the blood group that you are in need for and someone will contact you with a donor's name in minutes. This may not sound like rocket science information, but, when shared, can probably be a life saver.

Take another example of a certain formula in MS Excel that you discovered helped you save 4 hours of work time when making your daily reports. if you share the same with your colleagues, it will help increase everyone's productivity. If not that, at least all of you can enjoy some free time thus saved.

There are so many websites out there sharing tips and tricks on specific topics. There are sites dedicated to particular topics as well. But, what beats them all is a simple email from a friend or colleague who shares something new with you. You may not have time to check web sites but you will surely give the friendly email a read.

You may choose to save the email to a folder OR even delete it. Either case, at least a brief of the topic stays in your subconscious mind. So, next time you encounter something of that nature, your mind will tell you that you have read an email somewhere related to that topic and it's not new to you.

Some of you may even try to return the gesture by sharing something they know could be of use to the remaining. When this happens, it triggers a chain reaction. Every one in the group starts sharing with each other and in the bargain, each one gets enlightened that bit more about the infinite secrets of this universe, both known and unknown.

And trust me, it really is a great feeling when you sleep thinking, "I know a little bit more about the world today than I did yesterday". Make a habit of learning at least one new thing a day and sharing the same. You will see that your knowledge multiplies faster than you could have ever learned yourself.

And that is precisely why I have written this article. "Knowledge Increases By Sharing. So, Pass it On"
